Paper of the Week: Kyoseishi from Washi Arts

Kyoseishi (kee-o-say-shi) is a handmade, dyed Japanese paper than has konnyaku starch kneaded into the kozo fibers to strengthen the paper. Kyoseishi means strong paper. This type of paper is known as momigami (crinkled paper). The distinctive texture comes from the process of kneading the starch into the paper.
