I received this piece of paper from Susan Mackin Dolan, a paper artist who lives near me. This particular piece was a test sheet for an edition she made as a fundraiser for Hand Papermaking Magazine. The paper is kozo with an iris border and I wove it with a sheet of Kristoferson Studio’s paste paper

These sheets of paper traveled around the world to be printed. Read all about the inspiration behind this piece and purchase a copy here. Hand Papermaking is an exceptional journal in our field. In addition to publishing the magazine twice a year, they produce a quarterly newsletter and every two years they create an amazing limited edition portfolio featuring an aspect of the craft.
There are two other organizations devoted to the field of hand papermaking that are worth noting: The Friends of Dard Hunter is a national group which meets annually in a different city (the next meeting is in October 2014 in Boston), and the International Association of Papermakers and Paper Artists is an international organization which meets every two years (the next meeting is in July 2014 in Fabriano, Italy, an historic papermaking town where paper is still being made today).
About the 25 Days of Paper: I’m going to be a crazy blogger in December, featuring cool paper products, projects, blogs, books, or papers each day. Join in the fun by reading along! I’ll also post links on my FaceBook page. Enjoy the season!
About 100 x 100 Paper Weavings: On September 23, 2013, I started making 100 daily paper weavings. I’ll finish on New Year’s Eve!
