Holiday Gift Making!

Holiday Gift Making!

Forgive me if this seems like a bit of an infomercial, but a girl has to do her marketing! And pardon me if you receive a message like this twice in the next day or two. If you live in Colorado and subscribe to my newsletter as well as this – my BLOG – you’ll receive two similar notes. I give you permission to delete the other note without even reading it!

And by the way, I would love to hear from you in the comments section below if you feel so inclined after reading this post!

Here’s the scoop: I’m offering a NEW workshop in my studio, as I attempt to make my business a bit more stable by having some regular gigs instead of doing new things all of the time (oh, I just said NEW workshop, didn’t I?). Well, my plan is that this NEW workshop will be an annual event, and the Red Cliff Paper Retreat will also become an annual event, and then there is the Red Cliff Studio Tour… I think you get the picture: three regular events in my studio each year!

I hope that you’ll read this to the end, even if you don’t think you’ll be coming to my studio in November (by the way, a friend of mine is flying up from Albuquerque for that weekend; anything is possible)!

Here are the vitals:

Date: Saturday, November 15th

Time: 9:30am – 3:30pm

Location: Helen’s studio in Red Cliff (please note that there will be a back-up location in Edwards in case of inclement weather)

Cost: $85 plus $15 for materials

If you’d like to grab a spot in this workshop before reading further, just click here to register!

And if you want to make a weekend of it, the Green Bridge Inn is a nice place to stay right in Red Cliff; their rates are the best in the area.

More juicy details: as the title describes, we’ll be making gifts, out of paper of course. Most of the projects we’ll be making are featured in my book, Playing With Paper.  I’d be curious to know if you own a copy of this book, how many of those projects have you made, if any? Really, I’d love to know (remember, you can leave a comment below). If you have, that’s terrific, and that’s why I wrote the book! If not, I totally get it, I have many how-to books that I use purely for inspiration.

But I have a sneaky suspicion that some of you might have the book, but the fact that you had to acquire special materials might have hindered you. I’m here to help. I’ll have everything you need to make the Magic Window Star, the Collapsible Lantern and the Shadow Ornament at the workshop. If we have time, we’ll even make a pop-up card or two.

You’ll make some really cool projects that you can use to decorate your home for the holidays or give as gifts. Remember, we’ll be done before Thanksgiving (the workshop is on November 15th) so you might even consider bringing one of your lovely creations as a host/ess gift!

And guess what, you’ll acquire the skills to make more of these projects if little heart so desires. You can even teach others: imagine sitting by the fire, listening to holiday music and making gifts with your friends or family. This could become a tradition!

I’m smack dab in the middle of preparing kits for six of the projects in Playing With Paper. I’ll have these available for purchase at the workshop so you can bring home supplies or give to your friends and family. Many of these kits are stocking stuffer size (and price)! And of course, I’ll have my how-to books available for purchase, too.

Those of you that are too far away to come to the workshop, don’t fret! I will be offering these kits for sale on-line in about 10 days. That will give you enough time to stock up on kits to make yourself or to give as gifts.

Well, there you have it. I hope that you will grab your spot in this workshop. As I say on the registration page:

Designing with paper makes my heart happy; sharing that joy with others keeps it ticking!

Oh, and if you live nearby and have a group of friends or colleagues that would be interested in a Holiday Gift Making Workshop, consider organizing your own group and I’ll come with everything we need – I’m happy to customize the projects and time frame for your book club, girls night out, team building event, etc.

Thanks for reading, leave a comment if you’d like, and click here to register for the workshop.

I do have your book (as well as Paper Illuminated) and think this is a wonderful class to offer. Only wish I could come! Will look forward to your kits.
    Good luck!

Hi Helen: I would love to have some of your kits for projects from Playing With Paper. I want to give them to my daughter, Amy Ginn, a midwife in Durango. She makes cards for some balance in her stressful profession. She loves her job, of course.
Your blog has really given me interesting sites to post on my Facebook page and for our fiber shop, The Sheared Edge. So glad I found you through Rosemary Cohen. I did meet you at Camp Collins, (in the Oregon forest).
I have Playing With Popups. Maryruth Ginn
