The Sunday Paper, 1 (12),
Greetings from Paris! We’re heading home today after our sojourn to Europe. Au revoir, and I look forward to typing to you from Colorado next week!
As seen on Colossal, Motion Silhouette is an interactive Japanese children’s book by Megumi Kajiwara and Tathuhiko Nijima that includes pop-up silhouettes in-between the pages. Be sure to watch the video to see how the book works. You can also your own made-to-order copy.
Did you catch these world cup masks by Spanish artist Sandra Suarez? It was fun to celebrate the winning of the World Cup in Germany!
Here’s a nice review of the recent origami convention in NYC by Leyla Torres, who taught a workshop on making this origami carousel. The conference attracted over 600 participants.
Colette Fu recently revealed her humongous pop-up book, I Love Shanghai at the Reél Mall in Shanghai.
And finally, here’s a review in the NYTimes about an origami exhibit with a photo slide show and links to several cool videos.

About The Sunday Paper: They keep saying that paper will become obsolete, yet artists, craftspeople, designers and creatives are keeping it alive and well. A healthy number of people are even making paper by hand (in some cultures they are still using age-old traditions). How cool is that? The Sunday PAPER is a resource for ideas and inspiration, all having to do with this amazing material. Each Sunday, starting with this edition, I’ll bring you stories and examples of people doing exciting, innovative, and beautiful things with paper, as well as links to interesting paperfacts I’ve unearthed from around the globe. I hope you’ll enjoy reading this paper, Papier, papel, хартия, Papir,紙, Papper, פּאַפּיר… and don’t hesitate to click on the link to leave your comments and suggestions!
