Join Helen on Monday, September 30th at noon MST to create your own Single Sheet Lantern!

You must register for this Zoom workshop at this link.

You will need the following tools & materials:
  • 8-1/2″ square (21.6CM) of translucent text-weight paper that folds well
  • 8-1/2″ square (21.6cm) of copy paper or any paper that folds well (we’ll make a template with this)
  • Optional: (4) grommets, grommet setter + hammer.
  • If you don’t have grommets, please bring a favorite fastener, double-sided tape, or a needle & thread.
  • Pencil
  • Bone folder
  • Ruler
  • Craft knife + cutting mat
  • tea light or fairy lights
Paper suggestions:
  • Translucent papers make gorgeous lanterns, but any text weight paper will work for this project, similar in weight to copy paper. I will work with vellum and Rock Paper and will show three fastening methods.
You will Learn:
  1. How to choose paper for a project: I will share specific paper recommendations with you, since this is one of the most common questions I get. It takes experience to develop a feel for paper, and we learn about paper qualities through the projects in The Paper Year.
  2. How to fold paper into thirds without measuring!
  3. About paper and light, one of my favorite topics.
  4. How to set grommets and two other ways to fasten the seams.
