I love making paper from abaca, and I often call it the incredible translucent shrinking material. Here is a sheet of abaca which is double-couched with a hemp string embedded between the layers. I’ve had this sheet for awhile and have folded it and unfolded it several times. I like the worn look. I wove it with strips of a Hook Pottery Paper, which is made in a similar fashion to their moon paper.

It looks a bit like a checkerboard doesn’t it? Or half of one.
